“Helping to keep them flying”
We are delighted to announce that our chosen charity partner for 2015 is the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC).
The GWAAC exists because there is no government funded air ambulance for the area and it is estimated that 1 in every 5 of the lives they save would be lost if they did not exist.
They receive no day-to-day funding from the Government or the National Lottery. That means they rely entirely on the generosity of the people they serve to continue operating.
They are one of the very few air ambulances who work to the “gold standard” Critical Care Model, which means rushing a Critical Care Paramedic and Critical Care Doctor (the majority of which are volunteers) to the scene. Essentially they are a flying Accident and Emergency Department, using advanced drugs and medical equipment at the scene to ensure the patient receives the best possible pre-hospital care.
